The Cardinal Newman Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 49-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Florence.
When it comes to explaining why Cardinal Newman lost, one person who can't be blamed is Evan Carter. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds. The matchup was Carter's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Peeples , who scored 12 points.
Cardinal Newman now has a losing record at 4-5. As for West Florence, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
Cardinal Newman will take on Fayetteville Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Fayetteville Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully Cardinal Newman likes a good challenge. As for West Florence, they will head out on the road to face off against A.C. Flora at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. A.C. Flora presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than West Florence in South Carolina (A.C. Flora is ranked 36th, while West Florence is ranked 145th).
