The Pomona Red Devils''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Covina 70-34. Pomona has struggled against Covina recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Joaquin Barragan was a one-man wrecking crew for Covina as he rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Jake Duronslet was another key contributor, throwing for 171 yards and four touchdowns.
Pomona now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Covina, their victory was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pomona will square off against Chino at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chino has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 324 points over their last eight contests. As for Covina, they will head out on the road to face off against Rowland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rowland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 871st, while Covina is ranked 248th).
