Baseball Recap: Fairfield Wins Going Away Against Holt

Fairfield won the last time they faced Holt and things went their way on Wednesday too. Fairfield put the hurt on Holt with a sharp 19-6 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Antwon Landrum and Jalen Kidd made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Landrum tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. Meanwhile, Kidd pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fairfield is 3-1 when Landrum allowsone or fewer hits, but 4-6 otherwise. At the plate, Landrum got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Kidd scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Kidd has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Cedarian Clemon was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 3-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Fairfield's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Justin Murray was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

The victory got Fairfield back to even at 7-7. As for Holt, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairfield will head out to face off against Jackson-Olin on Saturday. As for Holt, they will face off against Fairfield at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
