The Lawrence County Bulldogs were the 57-53 winner over the Floyd Central Jaguars when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Lawrence County took a 59-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Floyd Central. Lawrence County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Riley Compton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Floyd Central, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Compton has scored at least a third of Floyd Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Adkins, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Lawrence County's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Floyd Central, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lawrence County will challenge Wayne at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Wayne has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 735 points over their last 11 matchups. Floyd Central won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pike County Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th.
