Caldwell and Frontier are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Redskins will be playing at home against the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Caldwell hasn't scored more than a single run for four games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Caldwell's offense. They fell just short of Fort Frye by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Frontier made easy work of Belpre on Thursday and carried off an 11-1 win. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by exactly ten runs.
Brayden Powers was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had over his last three matchups. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Frontier's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 5-9 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Hunter Ruble was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ethan Rinard, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Frontier always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Belpre only posted an OBP of .348.
Frontier has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Caldwell, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Caldwell skirted past Frontier 2-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Redskins repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
