The University City Centurions fell victim to the Lincoln Hornets''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Hornets, falling 49-0. Having soared to a lofty 33 points in the game before, University City couldn't push the score so high this time.
Lincoln got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Akili Smith Jr. out in front who threw for 177 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes. Isaiah Grant was another key contributor, gaining 87 total yards and two touchdowns.
University City's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Lincoln, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. University City will take on Madison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Madison presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than University City in California (Madison is ranked 134th, while University City is ranked 364th). Lincoln will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Helix at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Helix is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
