University Prep is a perfect 10-0 against Excelsior Charter since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. University Prep will host Excelsior Charter at 3:15 p.m. University Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
University Prep fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Duarte last Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 6-5.
Breezy (Briseis) Vargas spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up seven Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Brie (Brieana) Villanueva made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Paityn Zimmerman, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Villanueva wasn't the only one working in the hit department: University Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Excelsior Charter didn't have quite enough to beat Granite Hills on Monday and fell 11-9. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
Evangeline Archuleta was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Audie Nottingham was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Excelsior Charter's loss dropped their record down to 6-4-1. As for University Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. University Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .373. However, it's not like Excelsior Charter struggles in that department as they've averaged .379. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
University Prep beat Excelsior Charter 9-4 in their previous meeting back in February. Will University Prep repeat their success, or does Excelsior Charter has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
