The Western Tech & Environmental Science Wolverines will face off against the Dulaney Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Dulaney will be up against a hot Western Tech & Environmental Science squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Wolverines were the clear victors by a 15-8 margin over Pallotti on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won four matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Harlan Sammons was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Connor Brown, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Braylon Sargent, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Dulaney beat Gilman 10-7 on Monday. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Greyhounds recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Like Western Tech & Environmental Science, Dulaney also got a great game from a two-way player: Drew Ranck. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Those nine strikeouts gave Ranck a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other pitching news, Dylan Hebbel looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Logan Park was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and four runs. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Matthew Rich was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.
Dulaney always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Dulaney pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Western Tech & Environmental Science, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Western Tech & Environmental Science might still be hurting after the 11-4 defeat they got from Dulaney in their previous matchup back in April of 2024.
