There wasn't a lot of overall movement in the power rankings this week, but with 13 teams changing position, that doesn't mean the week lacked for thrills. A special shoutout goes to Lafayette's junior Randy Anderson, who scored five total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
Lafayette got a 42 - 13 win over Lake Cormorant last week, and a key reason for the win was junior Randy Anderson. Anderson rushed for 210 yards and five touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Anderson as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between Starkville (2nd in the power rankings) and Clinton (14th) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. Starkville had all the answers against Clinton, winning 41 - 14. One major factor in the victory was the play of senior Rodrigues Clark, who earned one touchdown and 134 yards rushing the ball.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It isn't too difficult to come out on top when you enjoy a 319-yard edge over your opponent, and Taylorsville had just that last week. The final score between it and Perry Central was a 50 - 0 blowout in Taylorsville's favor. One of the main ringleaders for Taylorsville was senior Keyon Bass, who ran for 150 yards and also punched in three touchdowns. With 12 consecutive wins, Taylorsville boasts the longest winning streak of any team in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Oxford (8th in the power rankings) and Madison Central (7th). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. Only one team will win this week, so we'll find out which team fails to repeat its success.
