The Melbourne Bulldogs suffered their biggest loss since January 3rd on Friday. They suffered a rough 52-32 loss at the hands of Edgewood. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Melbourne in their matchups with Edgewood: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Melbourne had strong showings from Addyson Turba, who scored eight points along with four steals, and Quinteria Coger, who scored ten points. Coger is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.
Melbourne struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Edgewood racked up 15 assists.
Edgewood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emma Kelleher out in front who scored 15 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaina Preble, who scored 11 points along with seven steals.
Melbourne's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Edgewood, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.
Melbourne will take on Sebastian River at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sebastian River is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Edgewood, Edgewood and Odyssey Charter School will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Odyssey Charter School will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 509th, while Edgewood is ranked 253rd).
