The Sapulpa Chieftains scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They strolled past Booker T. Washington with points to spare, taking the game 76-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Sapulpa to victory were Riki Mcquarters and Tyla Heard. Mcquarters scored 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Heard dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Heard has scored at least 25% of Sapulpa's points. Kianna Littlebear was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Sapulpa's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for Booker T. Washington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.
Sapulpa will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Edison at 10:00 a.m. Edison comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Booker T. Washington will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Collinsville at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th.
