The Seguin Matadors can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-43 win over Veterans Memorial. The win was just what Seguin needed coming off of a 88-28 loss in their prior match.
Seguin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Desiree Zuniga led the charge by scoring 11 points along with five steals. Karina Lerma was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 12 rebounds.
Seguin's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-24. As for Veterans Memorial, they dropped their record down to 3-28 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home.
Seguin will take on the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Veterans Memorial, they will head out on the road to face off against the Antlers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tivy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Patriots in Texas (the Antlers are ranked 194th, while the Patriots are ranked 1125th).
