Fairfield County recap December 3, 2013
Greenwich was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Staples. The Cardinals came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
Darien extended the longest winning streak in Fairfield County this week by beating New Canaan, 28-24. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Ridgefield's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ryan Dunn threw for 236 and 2 touchdowns and Andrew Chuma had 121 yards receiving. On the ground Will Bonaparte chipped in 292 yards. Bonaparte helped Ridgefield's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 38 yards.
The Tigers' dynamic duo of Dunn and Chuma proved tough for Danbury to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Bonaparte helped Ridgefield's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 38 yards.
He went 15-29 with 3 interceptions.
Bonaparte was a force in the backfield as Ridgefield topped the Hatters.
Silas Wyper provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Darien beat the Rams. He completed 19 passes for 269 yards and also ran for 104 yards. Wyper's key target this week was John Reed, who caught 4 passes for 108 yards.
Trumbull's Nick Roberts and Thomas Hayduk have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Roberts has thrown for 3,104 yards this season, while Hayduk has 52 catches for 1,044 yards. Mufasa Abdul-Basir from St. Joseph leads the league in rushing with 1,944 yards.
So far this year, he has garnered 69 catches for 913 yards.
Accruing a total of 28 touchdowns this year, Nick Cascione has thrown for 1,979 yards with 4 interceptions.
In 131 carries Julian Fyffe has put up 985 yards this year.
Kevin Callahan's team was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to fourth in the league. The Tigers vanquished Danbury 35-6 earlier in the week.
