Softball Recap: Grenada Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Grenada won against Starkville last Friday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Chargers didn't even let the Olive Branch Conquistadors on the board, marking the Chargers' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Grenada let Ac Poynor and Saniya Boyd run wild. Poynor scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Boyd scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Boyd has posted since back in February of 2024. Olivia Lashley was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Grenada was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Olive Branch only posted a batting average of .118.

Grenada pushed their record up to 13-7 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Olive Branch, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Coming up, Grenada will challenge South Panola at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Olive Branch, they are taking a road trip to face off against Lake Cormorant at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
