Baseball Recap: Sunlake's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

After a string of six wins, Sunlake's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the IMG Academy Silver Ascenders by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Seahawks have suffered since March 6th.

Dominic Italiano was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Lucas Zarlenga was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4. Sunlake is 6-1 when Zarlenga posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise.

Sunlake's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for IMG Academy Silver, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Sunlake will face off against Land O' Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Seahawks 3.2, the Gators 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. IMG Academy Silver does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
