In what's become a running theme this season, the Pueblo Warriors gave their fans yet another huge win on Monday. They claimed a resounding 62-30 victory over Canyon del Oro at home. Given Pueblo's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Canyon del Oro is ranked 147th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pueblo was led to victory by Sara Galindo and America Cazares. Galindo scored 21 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Cazares went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 1 assist. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cazares has scored at least a third of Pueblo's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Williams, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Canyon del Oro lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Halie Fuller, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and four blocks. Fuller has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Madisen Fleury, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Pueblo's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.1 points per game. As for Canyon del Oro, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
Pueblo will head out on the road to square off against Sahuaro at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sahuaro is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Canyon del Oro, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Salpointe Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Salpointe Catholic is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.3 points per game.
