Omaha Northwest is 2-7 against Papillion-LaVista South since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Omaha Northwest Huskies will head out to face off against the Papillion-LaVista South Titans at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Omaha Northwest took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 63-54 win over Norfolk.

Omaha Northwest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Dubose, who went 7-for-9 en route to 23 points. Dubose has become a key player for Omaha Northwest: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least 15 points, but 1-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Akshay Setti, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 16 points.
Meanwhile, Papillion-LaVista South waltzed into their matchup last Friday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. Everything went their way against the Mustangs as they made off with a 62-42 victory. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.
Omaha Northwest better keep an eye on Bryson Bahl. He was instrumental in Papillion-LaVista South's win, shooting 5-for-8 from downtown and dropping a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Herrera, who posted nine points.
Papillion-LaVista South was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millard North only eight assists.
Papillion-LaVista South's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.8 points. As for Omaha Northwest, their victory bumped their record up to 5-17.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Omaha Northwest has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Papillion-LaVista South struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Omaha Northwest was dealt a bruising 64-23 loss at the hands of Papillion-LaVista South in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Omaha Northwest was down 36-14.
