Baseball Recap: Keansburg Extends Winning Streak to Five

Keansburg strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Lakewood Piners. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for the Titans this season.

James Valle was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Rynell Hunley was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Hunley is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Emmanuel Ramirez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Keansburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakewood only posted an OBP of .429.

Keansburg pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Lakewood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Keansburg is set to challenge their familiar foe Henry Hudson at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Titans 3.4, the Admirals 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Lakewood will take on rival Long Branch at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
