Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Noxubee County Tigers walked away with it. They blew past South Pike, posting a 35-6 victory at home. Considering Noxubee County has won six games by more than 24 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
It was another big night for Kamario Taylor, who threw for 250 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Taylor has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dequadrion Welch, who picked up 102 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
The win (which was Noxubee County's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-4. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 McLaurin and 2-9 Southeast Lauderdale (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 35.5% over those games). As for South Pike, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Noxubee County will square off against St. Stanislaus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Stanislaus is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games. South Pike does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
