Gateway - South recap Oct. 9, 2012
Howell extended the longest winning streak in Gateway - South this week by beating Timberland, 42-7. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
The T-Wolves' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ryan Bainbridge threw for 74 and one touchdown and Travis Arndt had 30 yards receiving. On the ground Lucas Jordan chipped in 18 yards. Bailey Canedy helped Timberland's passing attack out by catching one ball for 25 yards.
Canedy made the biggest impact on defense this week as Timberland lost to Howell. The junior grabbed one interception.
Timberland's offense has been unstoppable this season and the T-Wolves feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Bainbridge has thrown for 340 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Kyle Fletcher has four catches for 84 yards. Jordan leads the league in rushing with 400 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Troy-Buchanan takes on Fort Zumwalt West. The Trojans are in second place, while the Jaguars are in third place.
The Vikings led Gateway - South in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Ed Gilreath's team.
