After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fort Scott, the Parsons Vikings were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Labette County by a score of 72-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why Labette County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Hudson Baker. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 27 points and 16 rebounds. That was a full 41.5% of Labette County's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Nolan Nash, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Parsons now has a winning record of 8-7-1. As for Labette County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.
Parsons will head out on the road to face off against Pittsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pittsburg knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Parsons likes a good challenge. As for Labette County, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Chanute at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Labette County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
