Nemaha Central can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent contest last Thursday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 48-0 victory over Pleasant Ridge. Given Nemaha Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Pleasant Ridge is ranked 180th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nemaha Central found their leader in underclassman Carter Hajek, who rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 103 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Hajek is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last nine games he's played. Caleb Strathman was another key contributor, gaining 80 total yards and two touchdowns.
Riley County fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They were the clear victor by a 28-7 margin over Rossville. Riley County's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Nemaha Central's victory was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 42.82 points. As for Riley County, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Everything came up roses for Nemaha Central against Riley County when the teams last played back in October as the squad secured a 30-0 victory. Will Nemaha Central repeat their success, or does Riley County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
