The Ascend Leadership Aviators will head out on the road to challenge the Clover Garden School Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ascend Leadership comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Ascend Leadership suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were beaten by Chatham Charter 75-16. While losing is never fun, Ascend Leadership can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 578th, while Chatham Charter is ranked 141st).
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Clover Garden School, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 37-22 loss to Triangle Math & Science on Tuesday.
Ascend Leadership's defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.4 points per game. As for Clover Garden School, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season.
Ascend Leadership was taken down by Clover Garden School 54-12 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Ascend Leadership avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
