Baseball Recap: Summit Christian Academy Drops Season-High Score on Mounds

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Summit Christian Academy). They put the hurt on the Mounds Golden Eagles with a sharp 16-5 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won three games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Cam Archer made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Archer was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Summit Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Summit Christian Academy let Caden Antle and Reece Ford run wild. Antle scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Ford scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that Antle snagged this season. Justin Tillman was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Summit Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Summit Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 4-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Mounds, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coincidentally, Summit Christian Academy and Mounds will both be playing Porter the next time they take the field. Summit Christian Academy will host Porter at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Mounds will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
