On Saturday, Florence Christian was beaten by Augusta Christian 63-22. While losing is never fun, Florence Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 144th in South Carolina, while Augusta Christian is ranked 49th in Georgia).
Despite the defeat, Florence Christian had strong showings from Emerson Poston, who scored 11 points, and Anna Kate Huggins, who scored 9 points. Poston scored a full 50% of Florence Christian's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Florence Christian now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Augusta Christian, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Florence Christian will be playing at home against Wilson Hall at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Augusta Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Curtis Baptist at 6:45 p.m. on December 11th. Curtis Baptist will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
