Basketball Recap: Mulberry Makes It Three in a Row at Home

Mulberry won the last time they faced Bartow, and Lorianys Castanon Cruz did her part to make sure it happened again. The Mulberry Panthers claimed a resounding 53-24 victory over the Bartow Yellow Jackets thanks in part to Castanon Cruz, who almost dropped a double-double on 40 points and nine boards. The matchup was her 20th in a row with at least ten points.

Bartow lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Miniale Algarin, who posted seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Whitaker, who had eight points.

Mulberry's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.3 points per game. As for Bartow, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Mulberry wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-31 victory against Lake Gibson on the 19th. As for Bartow, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-37 defeat against Discovery on the 18th.
