Lake George is 9-0 against the Generals since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lake George Lakers will head out on the road to square off against the Salem Generals at 6:00 p.m. Salem took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lake George, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, Lake George beat the Eagles 50-40. Given Lake George's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Eagles are ranked 694th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake George to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sam Burns, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Angelo Bergman, who scored 18 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Salem, who are still winless after their 16th matchup. They lost to Fort Edward at home by a decisive 50-31 margin on Tuesday. Salem was down 40-19 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the loss, Salem had strong showings from Josh Harrington, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds, and David Miller, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and two steals. Harrington has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiernan Haskell, who scored two points along with eight rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Lake George and bumps their season record up to 10-6. As for Salem, their defeat was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-16.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's match: Lake George have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 38.6% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Salem, though, as they've only made 24.1% of their threes this season. Given Lake George's sizable advantage in that area, the Generals will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything went Lake George's way against the Generals in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the Lakers made off with a 53-28 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake George since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
