The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Miller in their matchups with Grove City Christian: they've now lost three in a row.
Miller got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Heather West and
Abby Keller, who each put up four points. West also led the team in assists with an. She held things down on the boards with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Clay sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 21-18 win over Western on Monday. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Clay has scored all year.
Clay's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emma Emnett led the charge by scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds. The game was Emnett's sixth in a row with at least ten points.
Miller's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.8 points per game. As for Clay, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Miller have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 29.9 rebounds per game.
