The Manitou Springs Mustangs will challenge the Peyton Panthers at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Manitou Springs was handed a 14-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts 7-6. The win was some much needed relief for Manitou Springs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Maxton Bolster was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Hayden Martinez was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Ashur Lavigne also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Manitou Springs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Peyton strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Mitchell as they made off with a 15-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won three games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Trenten Compton made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Compton was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, Peyton got a massive performance out of Noah Martin, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Zayden Ebbert, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Peyton's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average this season. As for Manitou Springs, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.
Manitou Springs suffered a grim 16-3 defeat to Peyton when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
