The Woonsocket Villa Novans can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top against Cumberland by a score of 22-15. This was payback for Woonsocket, who suffered a 35-20 loss the last time these two teams met.
Among those leading the charge was Jonathan Peguero, who rushed for 163 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Peguero is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Michael Cinquantini, who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown.
Cumberland's loss came despite strong showings from Andrew Ray and Andrew Nocera. Ray rushed for 154 yards while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, while Nocera gained 90 total yards and two touchdowns. Ray was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 52 yards.
The win got Woonsocket back to even at 5-5. As for Cumberland, their loss ended a eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-2.
Woonsocket does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cumberland also has no future games currently scheduled.
