The Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wesleyan Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Wesleyan Christian Academy was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Westchester Country Day on Thursday. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Wildcats. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won five in a row.
Sam Cozart looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Wesleyan Christian Academy is 3-1 when Cozart allows two or fewer hits, but 7-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Blake Goff and Nick Papciak did most of the damage at the plate: Goff went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI and two runs, while Papciak got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Papciak a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Thompson Holloway, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.
Wesleyan Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Covenant Day hit Charlotte Country Day School with a four-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Buccaneers fell 5-0 to the Lions. The Buccaneers have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Charlotte Country Day School also got a good showing from Dehler Hart, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Hart has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Charlotte Country Day School saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Jones, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Wesleyan Christian Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-11. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Charlotte Country Day School, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-17.
