Upper Scioto Valley found their leader in underclassman Raegan Castle, who scored 15 points. It was the first time this season that Castle scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Hunsicker, who scored six points along with three steals.
Despite the defeat, Hardin Northern saw an underclassman step up: Alaina Thomas scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Thomas hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Catherine Overs was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Upper Scioto Valley's win bumped their record up to 6-15. As for Hardin Northern, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.
Upper Scioto Valley will challenge North Baltimore at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hardin Northern, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Temple Christian at 6:00 p.m.
