Baseball Game Preview: Navajo Prep Eagles vs. Northwest Falcons

Navajo Prep has gone a perfect 6-0 against Northwest recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Falcons at 3:00 p.m. Navajo Prep has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Navajo Prep challenged Laguna Acoma on Friday. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hawks, sneaking past 12-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted against the Hawks since April 7, 2022.

Navajo Prep got a massive performance out of Khol Johnson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Nehemiah Simpson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Navajo Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Northwest got themselves on the board against Thoreau on Tuesday, but Thoreau never followed suit. They blew past the Hawks 9-0. The victory was some much needed relief for the Falcons as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Northwest's record now sits at 2-5. As for Navajo Prep, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-13 record.

Everything went Navajo Prep's way against Northwest in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Navajo Prep made off with a 16-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
