Kouts is 1-6 against Boone Grove since September of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mustangs & Fillies will be playing at home against the Wolves at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Kouts is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since March 11, 2024 on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Valparaiso.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Kouts who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 12-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-12.
Meanwhile, Boone Grove made easy work of Kankakee Valley on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 win. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Kougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Boone Grove took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-6, 25-15.
Kouts better focus on containing Ryder McCoy and Max Pollnow as the pair were huge in Boone Grove's win. McCoy had 13 digs and three aces, while Pollnow had four aces and three digs. Those four aces gave Pollnow a new career-high.
Boone Grove was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces every time they've taken the court this season.
The win got Kouts back to even at 1-1. As for Boone Grove, they pushed their record up to 2-1 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
