After flying high against the Kentucky School for the Deaf Colonels last Saturday, the N.C. School for the Deaf Bears came back down to earth. N.C. School for the Deaf had to suffer through a rough 59-7 loss at the hands of the Lions. N.C. School for the Deaf was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-7.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead The Master's Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Macy Bumgarner, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten steals. Bumgarner is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Yelton, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and six steals.
N.C. School for the Deaf has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for The Master's Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.
N.C. School for the Deaf will stay at home for another game and welcome the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on February 1st. Virginia School for the Deaf & Blind and the Bears are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. The Master's Academy is on the road again on Thursday and plays the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on February 1st.
