The Eaton Reds lost against the Sterling Tigers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Eaton took a 50-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Eaton in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.
Eaton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mitch Haythorn, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Lucas Stone was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Sterling was led to victory by Ethan Thyne and Colin Linn. Thyne almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds, while Linn scored 26 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Linn has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Wesley Knuppel, who scored four points along with three steals.
Eaton's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for Sterling, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-6.
Eaton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Highland will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Sterling will take on the Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
