Edwards County has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Wayne City Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Edwards County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Edwards County scored the most points they've had all season to find success two weeks ago. They put the hurt on Eldorado with a sharp 76-51 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Edwards County has posted since December 18, 2023.
Wayne City suffered their biggest loss since December 12, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the victim of a tough 61-39 defeat at the hands of Webber. While losing is never fun, Wayne City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 638th, while Webber is ranked 190th).
Despite the loss, Wayne City saw an underclassman step up: James Walker scored ten points along with five rebounds. Koby Anderson was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Edwards County's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Wayne City, they dropped their record down to 7-15 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Edwards County against Wayne City in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 62-33 win. Will Edwards County repeat their success, or does Wayne City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
