Gulf Breeze is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They will venture away from home to challenge the Milton Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Gulf Breeze is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Gulf Breeze is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering West Florida just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 3-2.
Gulf Breeze had to settle for second despite strong performances on the mound from Preston Hines and Massimo Pischetola Hines didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched, while Pischetola pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Pischetola a new career-low in walks (zero).
At the plate, Boston Hanna made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those stolen bases marked the first that he has snagged this season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Milton made sure to put some runs up on the board against Pine Forest on Thursday. The Panthers blew past the Eagles 19-6. Considering the Panthers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Clive Pack made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Pack was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and one double. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Jackson Hauck looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single hit any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Milton got a massive performance out of Sayler Melton, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker McCoy, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Milton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pine Forest only posted an OBP of .464.
Gulf Breeze's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Milton, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.
Gulf Breeze couldn't quite finish off Milton in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 and fell 7-5. Can the Dolphins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
