Softball Recap: Arcanum's Winning Streak Snapped at Eight Games

Arcanum dropped their record down to 17-7 on Saturday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Covington Buccs by a score of 7-5. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 6-1 to the Buccs when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Covington, they pushed their record up to 15-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

For Covington's part, Whitney Burns spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Jayda McClure was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Hartwig, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Coming up, Arcanum will be playing at home against Fairborn at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Covington, they will face off against Fort Recovery at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
