The West Laurens Raiders lost against the Baldwin Braves back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. West Laurens had to suffer through a rough 74-28 loss at the hands of Baldwin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points West Laurens has scored all season.
West Laurens' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jarissa Robinson, who scored seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion Covin, who scored six points.
Baldwin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Janaye Walker led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Walker hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. Madison Ruff was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six steals and two blocks.
West Laurens' defeat dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Baldwin, the win (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 21-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Laurens will take on Westside at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westside is coming into the game with three straight wins on the road, meaning West Laurens will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Baldwin, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Swainsboro at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Baldwin has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,200 points over their last 17 games.
