Football Recap: Skyline Skates Past East with Ease

Skyline entered their tilt with East on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They breezed past the Leopards to the tune of 53-21. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Eagles just coasted through the last quarter.

Leading Skyline to victory were Xavier Cocci and Jonah Mailei. Cocci rushed for 44 yards and four TDs, while Mailei gained 198 total yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance also gave Mailei a new career-high in rushing yards (145).

Skyline didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Liam Whitworth and Cash Grandon. Grandon has been hot recently, having also posted nine or more total tackles the last four times he's played. Peyton Carter was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks and making 19 total tackles.

Skyline's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for East, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Coming up, Skyline will challenge Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East, they have already played their next contest, a 21-17 win against Jordan on the 9th.
