The Druid Hills Red Devils entered their tilt with the Lakeside Vikings with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Druid Hills sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 17-15 victory over Lakeside on Friday. For Druid Hills, this counts as revenge for the 24-0 defeat Lakeside walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Lakeside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kyle Davis. Despite the final result, he rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 150 yards and a touchdown.
Druid Hills' victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 28.3 points per game. As for Lakeside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Druid Hills will square off against Stone Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Stone Mountain comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Lakeside is on the road again on Friday and play against Clarkston at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Clarkston is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
