The Valiant Cross Academy Warriors and the Lee-Scott Academy Warriors squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Valiant Cross Academy Warriors had to settle for second. The matchup between them and the Warriors wasn't particularly close, with the Warriors falling 52-34. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Valiant Cross Academy has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Valiant Cross Academy saw an underclassman step up: Deshawn Hall dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Hall is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least 12 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Letwan Hall Jr, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Valiant Cross Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lee-Scott Academy only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Lee-Scott Academy found their leader in underclassman Haiden Harper, who scored 19 points along with four steals. Harper has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 19 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Aldridge, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Valiant Cross Academy's loss dropped their record down to 22-6. As for Lee-Scott Academy, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 26-5.
Valiant Cross Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lee-Scott Academy, they and Bessemer Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Bessemer Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests.
