South Kitsap took care of business in their home opener on Thursday (and then some). They claimed a resounding 54-14 victory over the Kentridge Chargers at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-8.
Brycen Clay was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 183 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. That's the most total yards he has posted since back in September of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Porter, who picked up 152 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to South Kitsap's defense and their five sacks. Decan Mulligan-Bowers was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up twohimself. Another thorn in Kentridge's side was Owen Kraut, who made five total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended two passes in addition to snagging two interceptions which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.
South Kitsap will face off against Mt. Rainier at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Kitsap is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
