6A District 3 recap October 1, 2013
Columbia's Lonnie Underwood rumbled for the longest rushing play in 6A District 3 this season in his game against Englewood last week. Underwood's team topped the Rams as he sprinted for 74 yards on the play and finished with 182 in all.
Nathan Taylor and Akeem Williams provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Englewood. The longest such play in the league this season, the connection resulted in 51 yards.
Columbia's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Taylor threw for 126 yards and Williams had 63 yards receiving. On the ground Underwood contributed 182 yards.
Underwood was a passing and rushing force as Brian Allen's team beat Marcus Miller's team. Underwood's key target this week was Williams, who caught 2 passes for 63 yards.
Taylor put up the best numbers in passing as the Tigers topped the Rams.
Underwood of the Columbia is only 33 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 112 carries Underwood has put up 967 yards this year.
At the moment, the Raiders are in third, while the Tigers are in first.
White moved up to 42 from 68 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Commanders were able to move up by beating Orange Park 41-13.
