The Riverdale Raiders entered their tilt with the Estero Wildcats with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Riverdale walked away with a 71-62 win over Estero on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Riverdale got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Konnor Vonhagen out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Vonhagen. Another player making a difference was Juan Ortiz, who scored 16 points along with nine assists and seven rebounds.
Estero lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brady Knutson, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Knutson scored a full 35.5% of Estero's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lee Eckman, who scored 15 points along with seven steals.
Riverdale now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Estero, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.
Riverdale will be playing in front of their home fans against Ida Baker at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ida Baker comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Estero, they will head out on the road to face off against Mariner at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mariner has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 469 points over their last six contests.
