This season hasn't been kind to the South Effingham Mustangs, who are still winless after their 20th matchup. They took a serious blow against Evans on Thursday, falling 88-47. South Effingham has struggled against the Knights recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Aidan Harris and Will Harlin certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Harris scored ten points, while Harlin scored nine points.
Evans' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taj Ford, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. It was the first time this season that Ford posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Emmanuel Mullings, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.
South Effingham's loss was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-20. As for Evans, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.
South Effingham will be playing at home against the Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lakeside is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.7 points per game this season. Evans is on the road again on Saturday and plays the Rebels at 3:30 p.m. on February 3rd.
