Monmouth Academy has gone 8-2 against Oak Hill recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Mustangs will look to defend their home field against the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. Monmouth Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last ten games.
Oak Hill's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Monday: Monmouth Academy hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Mustangs never let Spruce Mountain get on the board and left with a 14-0 win on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oak Hill). They were the clear victors by a 24-1 margin over Madison on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Raiders with their most commanding win of the season.
Joe Greenwood and Braden Dubuc made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Greenwood pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Dubuc struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, Greenwood posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. At the plate, Greenwood got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI, while Dubuc got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Oak Hill is 3-1 when Dubuc posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Braden New was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailed Littlefield, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Oak Hill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Monmouth Academy's victory bumped their record up to 15-1. As for Oak Hill, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
Everything went Monmouth Academy's way against Oak Hill when the teams last played back in April, as Monmouth Academy made off with a 10-0 victory. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
