The Colonel Crawford Eagles will take on the Upper Sandusky Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Colonel Crawford barely beat Bucyrus the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 20-3 margin over the Redmen on Wednesday. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Aubrey Betts was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Betts was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last nine contests.
In other batting news, Colonel Crawford let Brooklyn Vanderpool and Olivia Friley run wild. Vanderpool went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Friley went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Friley has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Saylor Holt, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Colonel Crawford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Upper Sandusky had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 11-4 win.
Aleah McCann made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. McCann was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Madison Hart was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. Those home runs marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Ava Saull, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Upper Sandusky's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Colonel Crawford, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-9.
