The Decatur Community Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Rawlins County 57-51. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Decatur Community of the 42-35 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Decatur Community saw an underclassman step up: Tyler Ostmeyer dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Davin Jensen, who scored six points along with seven assists and three steals.
Brayan Rodriguez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rawlins County, scoring 40 points along with eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rodriguez has scored all season. Tru Dewey was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Decatur Community bumped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Rawlins County, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Dighton the next time they take the court. Rawlins County will head out to face Dighton at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, while Decatur Community will host them at 3:30 p.m. on January 30th.
